Whether your research involves theme 1 (high energy) or theme 2 (condensed matter) you may choose both schools to attend. For example, in your first year of employment you may attend the THEP school and in the second year the SPTCM school. Postdocs, advanced Master’s students, as well as graduate students from foreign countries are also welcome.

week 1:

Evening speaker: Selma de Mink (API/UvA): The lives, deaths and after lives of the brightest stars in the Universe: [Or: How Gravitational Wave detections can teach us about our own Cosmic Origin.]

week 2:
Alexander Altland (Cologne University): Path integrals for nonequilibrium physics
Philippe Corboz (UvA): Introduction to tensor networks for quantum many-body systems
Evening speaker: Alejandra Castro (UvA): CFT partition functions with a black hole flavor

It should be noted that this year, similarly to last year, we have a substantial computational component. Students should therefore bring their laptops with them. Those who cannot should get in touch with the organizers, so that alternative solutions can be arranged for.

EXTRA NOTICE: Lecturer Joost de Graaf (UU) strongly advises you to install Python on your laptop beforehand, to save time and avoid complications. He has put together an installation guide.

The registration fee includes a double room for eight nights, all meals and an organized social event. Students are expected to share a room.

Students must attend the full two weeks.
If you wish to stay the weekend you must make your own arrangements.

First week:
Cooking workshop on the water, Zwolle, Harm Smeengekade 15, Tuesday 13 March 15-19hrs.
Drinks are included.
Dietary requests will be taken into account.
Transportation will be arranged by the DRSTP.

Second week:
Pub Quiz at Mooirivier. Drinks are not included.
