Symposium Trends in Theory and PhD schools combined

In 2024, the DRSTP will organize both the THEP and SPTCM PhD schools and its biennial conference as a single event. The PhD school will run from 13-15 May, and will feature plenary and parallel lectures that are intended for all PhD students in theoretical physics, regardless of their own research focus. This PhD school will be followed by a two-day conference on 16 and 17 May for all theoretical physicists in the Netherlands. The conference program will consist of plenary talks on recent developments in theoretical physics, and a poster session for PhD students.

New chairs for DRSTP boards

Both the Governing Board and the Educational Board of the DRSTP have new chairs. For the Governing Board, Frank Saueressig (RU) has taken over from Daniel Baumann. For the Educational Board, Jasper van Wezel (UvA)  is taking over from Peter Denteneer.

Frank’s research is focused on quantum gravity. Before taking over as chair, he has been member of the Governing Board for several years, and was the lead organizer of  the Trends in Theory conference in 2022.

Jasper’s research is focused on emergence in quantum matter. He has been a member of the Educational Board and was organizer of the SPTCM school from 2020-2022.
